There are two Gupt Navratris each year, one in the month of Magh (around January-February) and the other in Ashadha (around June-July). During these nine days, devotees perform special rituals and prayers to honor Ma Durga and her ten powerful forms known as the Mahavidyas. These practices are believed to be especially potent for spiritual growth and removing obstacles.

Gupt Navratri is particularly significant for those who practice tantra, as it is considered an auspicious time for performing tantric rituals. Gupt Navratri Puja Vidhi

1. Kalash Sthapana: On the first day, perform Kalash Sthapana (establishing a sacred pot) by filling a pot with water, placing mango leaves around its mouth, and covering it with a coconut. This symbolizes the presence of Ma Durga.
2. Ghatasthapana: Establish a ghata (clay pot) with soil and barley seeds, which will sprout over the nine days.
3. Devi Puja: Offer red flowers, incense, and lamps to Ma Durga. Recite Durga Saptashati or Devi Mahatmya, and offer fruits, sweets, and coconut.
4. Navagraha Puja: Worship the nine planets and offer prayers to seek their blessings.
5. Recitation of Mantras: Chant mantras dedicated to Ma Durga and the ten Mahavidyas throughout the nine days.

Gupt Navratri Mantras

1. Durga Mantra:
   • “ॐ दुं दुर्गायै नमः” (Om Dum Durgaye Namah)
2. Navarna Mantra:
   • “ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्लीं चामुण्डायै विच्चे” (Om Aim Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Vichche)
3. Mahavidya Mantras:
   • Each of the ten Mahavidyas has specific mantras; here are a few examples:
     • Kali: “ॐ क्रीं कालिकायै नमः” (Om Kreem Kalikayai Namah)
     • Tara: “ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्रीं तारा नमः” (Om Aim Hreem Kreem Tara Namah)
     • Tripura Sundari: “ॐ ऐं ह्रीं श्रीं” (Om Aim Hreem Shreem)

Gupt Navratri – Dos

1. Follow a Satvik Diet: Consume only vegetarian food, avoid garlic and onion, and fast if possible.
2. Daily Puja: Perform daily puja and recite mantras with devotion.
3. Keep the Home Clean: Maintain cleanliness and decorate the puja area with flowers and lights.
4. Charity and Helping Others: Perform acts of kindness and charity, especially to those in need.

Gupt Navratri – Don’ts

1. Avoid Cutting Hair and Nails: Do not cut hair or nails during the nine days.
2. Refrain from Wearing Black Clothes: Avoid black as it is considered inauspicious.
3. Do Not Use Leather Items: Avoid using leather products, including belts, wallets, and shoes.
4. Stay Away from Arguments: Keep the mind pure and avoid disputes to maintain focus on worship.
